Merotto

Merotto is a family-run sparkling wine producer located in the heart of the Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore area. Sitting at the foot of the Veneto Prealps halfway between Venice and the Dolomite mountains, this area has been known for grape cultivation for centuries. The Merotto winery is surrounded by hillside Glera vineyards, a testament to the family’s heritage, forever dedicated to wine-making. Agostino Merotto was already well-known for his Prosecco in the early 20th Century but it was in the late 1980s that the company expanded with new facilities, technology and organisation under the guidance of Graziano Merotto, the company’s present owner. Merotto grows and makes wine using Glera grapes from the winery’s own vineyards as well as from a select group of small producers. The winery and storage facilities have been built underground in the rocks beneath the vineyards so the wine is naturally kept at a controlled temperature.
