The campaign marks the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the appellation, which was awarded Denominazione di Origine Controllata status in 1969, and the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (D.O.C.G.) in 2009.

The 2019 campaign aims to build on the 2018 success of a series of masterclasses for sommeliers, wine buyers and wine journalists held in London and Manchester. The Consorzio is working again with Sarah Abbott MW, Madeleine Waters and team, to deliver an extended campaign, with a new focus on #SuperioreAfternoon – the pairing of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG with Afternoon Tea.

The broader campaign includes a press office, and a series of trade and consumer promotions to highlight the high quality, nuanced diversity and food-friendliness of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore. The initiatives and communications have been created to introduce the highest quality examples of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore to the UK market, and to introduce the many consumers who love Prosecco to the most nuanced, characterful and refined expressions of their favourite wine.

Producers and importers will be working with leading venues famous for their Afternoon Tea, of all styles, with incentives and support to offer an expanded selection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore.

#SuperioreAfternoon launched for the press at The Hari Hotel, Mayfair on Monday 25th March. Wines from forty-two producers of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG were presented alongside “Napolitea”, the Hari’s acclaimed Italian-twist Afternoon Tea.
