Springtime dedicated to the memory of the Great War

The 23rd edition of the Primavera del Prosecco Superiore (Prosecco Superiore Spring) is organizing two competitions, literary and photographic, on the theme of memory of the First World War
1 Doppia di Apertura

An extensive program of wine shows, some with more than 50 years of history behind them. Over 300 thousand visitors and tourists, who every year come to visit the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, and who stop in the local wineries, as well as the restaurants, hotels, farmhouses and taverns that dot the green tapestry of vineyards. Both the data on the number of visitors as well as visitor satisfaction surveys carried out at events held in the area confirm that the Primavera del Prosecco Superiore is one of the most highly-regarded events dedicated to wine tourism. Now in its 23rd edition, the event is back again this year confirming the strength of the union between quality production, volunteer work and the beauty of the local area. These factors are the focus of a tourist offering including events such as the novelty of the E-Motion bike tour, which is an e-bike tour with certified guides that includes stops at local wineries or in characteristic places such as Trattorias, Osterias and farmhouse restaurants.

From March 17 to June 10, starting from Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene and stretching as far as Follina, the Primavera del Prosecco Superiore is getting ready to promote the fame of traditional cuisine from the Treviso foothills, which is so rich in tastes and agricultural produce: from the uniqueness of its landscape, the history of its castles to its parishes and abbeys, and also a history marked by the dramas of the Great War. This year there will be special events dedicated to this theme at in each Wine Show, such as the literary contest “Short stories from the Great War – The year of occupation in the Prealps”, as well as a photographic competition.

This year will see the conclusion of events held to mark the Centenary of the Great War, and so it has been decided to dedicate the traditional Photographic Competition to the theme of places of conflict. Vidor, Moriago della Battaglia, Refrontolo, Follina, Cison di Valmarino and Vittorio Veneto, this latter being the town whose name is a symbol of the end of the war, are just some places to visit. Through the photographs, visitors will be able to see these places immortalised, the monuments to the fallen, the signs that can still be seen around the area of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, evoking emotions and sensations that bring to life the relationship between the area and the Great War.

Finally, the National Wine CompetitionPremio Fascetta d’Oro” returns. This is the only competition dedicated to the wines of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area. Every year it sees the best local wines competing, with winners being decided by an expert jury made up of members of Assoenologi, the association of oenologists. Awards for the winning wines will be announced during the Gala which will be held in July.
