Mongarda is a family-run business. Founded by Bruno and Marinella in 1978, and now managed by their son Martino. We are located in Col San Martino, a historic village at the foot of the steep, vine-covered hills.
An incredible landscape, which, however, requires mostly manual labor for the 12 hectares of vineyards. The cultivation methods are artisanal. It’s not a “one-size-fits-all” vineyard management, because each plot has different needs and expressions to be valued. The soils are rich in conglomerate rock, which gives the wines a great sapidity. In the winery, there’s no fixed recipe for winemaking.
Every year is different, so they rely on intuition to best translate each harvest, preserving the integrity of the grapes and the character of the place. Fermentations are spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, and after spending the winter on fine lees, refermentations begin in the spring. The goal is to create wines that are easy to drink, genuine, and representative of the territory.
