Prowein 2022, a return to growth for Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG
From 15th to 17th May, the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG will be in Düsseldorf with 24 wineries.
The Consortium for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG will be back at Prowein this year, with 24 member wineries showing their wines.
The German market is second only to the UK for both volume and value: in 2021 exports to Germany increased to 7.6 million bottles (+10.5%) and 47.2 million euros (+10.4%). Exports to the UK increased to 9,6 million bottles (+18,2%) and 50 million euros (+7,5%).
These figures reflect the investment of the Consortium in sustained and innovative programs of education and promotion in key export markets with the objective of communicating the differentiating style and quality of their denomination.
The Consortium will launch the 2021 vintage at Prowein. The growing season started with winter with temperatures slightly above average, followed by a changeable spring with variable temperature and rainfall. Summer, on the other hand, until right before the harvest, was stable. The result is a well-balanced Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore with a pleasing acidity and expressive fruit character, necessary to give body and intensity.
The wineries that will be present at the Consortium stand are:
Andreola, Bellenda, Beniamino Maschio, Borgo Antico, Bortolomiol, Col Sandago, Conte Collalto, Domus Picta, Duca di Dolle, Frassinelli, Furlan, L’Antica Quercia, La Farra, La Tordera, Le Bertole, Merotto, Mionetto, Montesel, Nani Rizzi, Perlage, San Giuseppe, Sommariva, Sorelle Bronca, Valdo.
Visitors to the stand (D05 Hall 15) can also learn more about the denomination and its unique subzones and categories, including Rive and Cartizze. There will also be a wide range of wines from the newest style types, Sui Lieviti and Extra Brut.
A masterclass on Rive and Cartizze will be led by Sebastian Bordthäuser on May 16th at 2pm at Meininger Verlag Stand Halle 4 / A 20. Registration is at the door and no prior sign up is required.
