From 10th to 12th February 2020, the Producers’ Consortium for Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. will be taking part in Vinexpo Paris, the new event that will inaugurate this year’s season of major international wine fairs.

After forty years of experience organising international exhibitions for the wine industry, this year Vinexpo is trying out the French capital as a new site for the fair. In fact, according to the survey conducted by IWSR (International Wine and Spirit Research), Europe alone accounts for 60% of the world’s wine consumption and, with this appointment in Paris, Vinexpo will be right at the heart of the Old World.

This will therefore also be a new experience for Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G., which has obtained notable results in France in the last few years. Indeed, it is estimated that exports in volume terms of the D.O.C.G. sparkling wine destined for the French market have grown by an average annual rate of 21% in the last five years; if one considers just the last three-year period, the price per bottle has also shown a considerable increase of around 3% a year (according to CIRVE’s data). Overall, the annual exports of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. towards the French market now stand at a volume di 350,470 bottles, with a value of € 1,808,427.

The Producers’ Consortium will occupy the space at Hall 7.1, stand AB74, where the association’s communal  tasting area will be set up, with a tasting bar run by an AIS sommelier who will be able to offer those attending the fair no less than 30 wines that are representative of the product’s various styles. Also, ten of the Denomination’s producers will be present with their own tasting tables, where they will have the possibility to present their examples of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G.: from the traditional Brut, Extra Dry and Dry styles to the special Rive and Superiore di Cartizze selections.

The wineries present will be Andreola, Cantina Progettidivini, De Faveri, Frassinelli, Il Colle, La Farra, La Tordera, Sorelle Bronca, Val D’Oca and Vinicola Serena.

This presence at Vinexpo Paris 2020 is the first foreign appointment of the year for the Consorzio di Tutela, which will proudly represent the region that was awarded the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site last July in Baku. But it will also be confirmation of an important collaboration in France: indeed, the Consortium has renewed its partnership with La Cité du Vin, the world’s most prestigious wine museum, where the Denomination has occupied a significant space ever since it was inaugurated and is still the only partner in Italy of the foundation. Images of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene zone welcome visitors in the entry hall of the museum, where a succession of twenty-two wine landscapes from around the world introduce them to a tour of the museum. Conegliano Valdobbiadene is the only Italian wine region present. Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. will also continue to be a protagonist at the various events organised by the museum and which, in the last three years, have met with a great deal of success.
