Canella

The Canella winery, founded in 1947 by Luciano Canella, is now run by his children, Alessandra, Lorenzo, Nicoletta and Monica.Canella produces approximately 1,200,000 bottles of Prosecco Superiore Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG sparkling wine. Oenologist Roberto Pivetta selects the finest grapes from vineyards located between Vittorio Veneto and Valdobbiadene, tended by ten growers. The Canella winery was one of the very first to produce Prosecco DOC sparkling wine. For this reason – for reasons of history and tradition, that is – it was granted the DOCG appellation in spite of its location, outside the Superiore DOCG borders. (These enclose a strip of hilly land in the province of Treviso, between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene; Canella sources grapes from this area but the winery itself is located in the province of Venice.)
