In this section we have sought to give some useful indications for exploring the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area and its artistic, natural and gastronomic treasures.

Our suggested journey to find out about the origins of Prosecco Superiore begins in Conegliano which, thanks to its cultural tradition, constitutes the cradle of what is referred to today as “the Prosecco phenomenon”, and the real generator of the winemaking knowledge that has made the sparkling wines from these hills so successful.

From Conegliano our imaginary itinerary winds across vine-clad hills that offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside, with intriguing glimpses of tiny villages and ancient farmhouses. From the gentle hillsides near the thalweg, the slopes become more rugged and precipitous, until we arrive at Valdobbiadene, where viticulture is a truly heroic enterprise.

The landscape of Valdobbiadene is characterized by an explosion of vineyards, which stretch out as a vast, uninterrupted expanse before one’s eyes, punctuated merely by small groups of houses and other buildings. It is here that we find the Cartizze cru, the point of arrival of our journey and the place where the zone’s viticultural vocation reaches its maximum expression.
